Dr. Levinson has lectured extensively, frequently speaking on dry eye and corneal surgery and has been invited to speak at the American Academy of Ophthalmology conference. His clinical practice focuses on consultations from his colleagues. His father, Michael Levinson, OD, is a 1972 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is in private practice in Long Island, NY.

Dr. Levinson’s clinical interests include dry eye/meibomian gland dysfunction, corneal ectasia and keratoconus, corneal infections and pathology of the corneal epithelium, especially anterior basement membrane dystrophy. Dr. Levinson founded Specialized Eye Care in 2012 and his mission is to provide University level corneal care in a private practice setting. He is always willing to see emergencies the same day (even on weekends), and Dr. Levinson is available to consult over the phone during the day or after hours. He has the ability to culture corneal ulcers and he has fortified antibiotics and amniotic membrane in stock for emergencies. He has a Lipiflow device and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for the treatment of Meibomian gland dysfunction, along with anterior segment imaging (specular microscopy, topography, aberrometry, OCT), and SLT and YAG lasers.

Dr. Levinson’s main research interest over the past few years has been collagen cross-linking for the treatment of keratoconus. He has participated in the FDA clinical trials for CXL and has performed more of these procedures than anyone in Baltimore. Dr. Levinson was featured in an article in Baltimore Magazine’s Top Doc’s issue in 2011, has been featured on “The Critical Hour” on the Discovery Channel, and has been interviewed multiple times by Bottom Line Health to discuss ocular health.
