Often, OD’s focus heavily on the clinical aspect of their practice as they should. However, the focus on the business end of their practice can suffer. A healthy, thriving practice is essential to provide the best care for a patient. In my experience, practices want to understand how to create the best experience for their patients but are not given the information or tools for success. Even a successful practice (like any other business) wants to continually progress and implement better systems and practices to continue to separate them from their competition and keep patients returning as loyal, raving fans. Observing how other businesses innovate to improve their customer experience can teach valuable lessons that can be borrowed to create the best experience for our patients as well.
