Joy Elliott began her journey in the optical field in 2010 as an optometric technician. After a little over a year, she moved to Wisconsin with her husband where she started a position as an optician at Brandon Eyes in Middleton, WI. At Brandon Eyes, Joy truly found her calling in as an optician, where she acquired the certifications of COA, COT, ABO and NCLE. She loved the daily challenges and gratifications of working with patients and eyewear. When Joy and her husband were ready to settle down and begin a family, they decided to move back to the metro St Louis area to be near family and friends.

Joy started at Performance Eyecare in December of 2014 as an optician at the flagship location in Swansea, IL and has since grown into running the business and its 10 locations, alongside the owner & CEO, Dr. Dirk Massie. Working together daily in the same office allowed Joy to learn a lot of the business and sales metrics through Dr. Massie’s coaching. He has encouraged her knowledge and personal growth and has played a special role in mentoring her to be a better leader and operations manager. As Performance Eyecare has grown, Joy has played an integral part in assisting Dr. Massie with operating the business. When Joy isn’t working in or on the business, she enjoys listening to leadership, self-development, and business books, spending time with her son, and traveling.
