Our understanding and ability to treat ocular surface disease has expanded greatly over the past decade. New diagnostic tests and treatment options have the potential to improve patient outcomes and practice efficiency. This course will provide an overview of essential concepts in modern ocular surface disease management. Additionally, common in-office procedures will be highlighted via video examples and live demonstration.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Introduce the latest definition of dry eye as established by the recent DEW2 publication, focusing on role of hyperosmolarity, inflammation, and neurosensory abnormalities
  • Demonstrate the need to establish screening and diagnostic protocols to improve outcomes and clinic flow
  • Review latest concepts in treatment of Meibomian gland dysfunction, focusing on removing gland obstruction
