Medical Optometry: Best Practices in Implementation (ODs and Staff separated)
Course Description:
For the ODs: Case presentations will be reviewed to demonstrate the role of medical optometry in creating the practice dream and how best to implement the medical focus efficiently for both the doctors and their team.
For the Staff: Specific situations that arise in the medical area of the practice will be discussed in break out format to allow the teams to develop solutions that will create better efficiencies for the practice.

Course Description: 
Review of the lessons learned along the way in creating the dream including what has and can go wrong. How to evaluate progress, who should be involved, how to learn from challenges. Learn how to keep the team engaged and why it matters.

Dr. April Jasper is the owner of Advanced Eyecare Specialists, a group optometry practice in West Palm Beach, Florida. She has experience in almost every mode of optometric practice from her VAMC residency, teaching ocular disease at NEWNCO and benedict professor of practice management at Houston College of Optometry and being a 6 year leaseholder with Wal-Mart. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and Past-President of the Florida Optometric Association. Currently Dr. Jasper is Chief Optometric Editor of Optometric Management magazine. She serves on several Advisory boards including Shire, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Marco, Allergan and Alcon. Dr. Jasper’s passion is sharing with her colleagues in areas of practice management, customer service, ocular disease and technology in an effort to help them become more successful in patient care and personal growth.

How much is this event to attend?

This continuing education event is free to IDOC members, ODs and staff.  

For potential members, ODs and staff, this accredited event costs $100 to attend. Register by 5/1 to take advantage of the discounted rate of $75.

 

Can I bring my staff?

Absolutely! Staff are encouraged to attend and participate. We have found that the ODs that bring their staff with them have an easier time implementing any new ideas and changes into their practice.

 

What is included in the day?

5 hours of COPE approved CE, meals and networking opportunities. 

 

Is there parking?

There is a parking lot affiliated with our hotel and is accessible from the hotel lobby. Please note that the rates below have been discounted for the Doubletree Hotel Guests. The rates are valid for 24 hours parking, no in and out.  The garage is located at 51st St.  between 3rd Ave. and Lexington Ave. across from the Fire Station.
