Practice Finance Consultant
IDOC
Nathan Hayes joined IDOC with a solid background in the eye care industry and serves as IDOC's Practice Finance Consultant. Before Prima launched in 2011, he spent five years in business development for Red Tray and HMI Buying Group. Nathan graduated from Vanderbilt University in three years, with a degree in Spanish and a minor in mathematics.
After graduating, he spent a year working abroad. During that time, he worked for two firms in San Jose, Costa Rica. He interned with Grupo Juridico de San Jose, working in environmental policy to protect a threatened parcel of land, then he worked as a project manager for a US-owned precision machining shop. Nathan then spent 6 months working with street children and orphans in Mexico.
Before getting into the healthcare industry, he was an Assistant Store Manager and completed the Corporate Training Program with Haverty's Furniture Company in Atlanta, GA. Nathan and his wife Heather have a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Hannah. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys reading and outdoors activities - especially cycling and hiking.

Director of Marketing Services

Founder and Director of Optometry Marketing Services, Maddie brings decades of experience in helping small business owners succeed through effective marketing strategies. Since working with optometrists as a marketing consultant in 2016, Maddie has provided valuable insights and guidance to hundreds of private practice owners and managers.
In 2020, she launched social media services, followed by website services in late 2021, expanding the marketing toolkit for optometrists. Today, Maddie leads a skilled team offering website development, SEO optimization, Google Ads administration, and social media services, helping independent practices elevate their marketing efforts and drive growth.

Optometric Practice Management Consultant

Steve Vargo, OD, MBA is a 1998 graduate of Illinois College of Optometry. After working in a clinical optometric practice for several years, Dr. Vargo pursued his passion for practice management by earning his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Phoenix in 2008. A published author and speaker with 15 years of clinical experience, he serves as IDOC's Optometric Practice Management Consultant and advises members in all areas of practice management and optometric office operations. Steve and his wife Melanie have two sons, Lucas and Ryan. In his spare time, he enjoys running, cycling, sports and music. A native Chicagoan, he is an avid fan of the Cubs, live music and deep-dish pizza.

How much is this event to attend?
This event is free to IDOC members, ODs and staff.
For potential members, this event costs $100 to attend. Register by 8/7 to take advantage of the discounted rate of $75.
Can I bring my staff?
Absolutely! Staff are encouraged to attend and participate. We have found that the ODs that bring their staff with them have an easier time implementing any new ideas and changes into their practice.
